Qasper - Desktop Background Qasper Organizer is a web-based application. You use a web browser to work with Qasper Organizer. Qasper runs from a central host server. This is typically called the server side. To provide a complete solution to your organization requirements, there are certain functions you that run as applications directly from your computer. This is often called client side. Particularly: 1. To synchronize emails, appointments and contacts from your personal Outlook folders with the Qasper centralized database. Although Qasper has built-in emailing, it's often convenient to use your desktop version of Outlook for emailing, either in addition to, or as a replacement for Qasper's email functionality. This is provided by Qasper's Synchronization application. 2. To provide document management through Microsoft Office tools like Word. These functions provide a set of client-side forms that enable you to set an owner (contact, project, file, opportunity) for the document and store it on the central database directly from your desktop, instead of having to import the document using Qasper's import document functionality. These are provided by Qasper's Office add-ins. 3. To create custom report designs on your desktop, and store those designs on the central server. Qasper does not provide a server-side report designer (however, Qasper does provide extensive reporting through each module's print function, as well as the ad hoc Query module and the Report module). This is provided by Qasper's Desktop Report Designer. Synchronizing emails, appointments and contacts By installing Qasper's Synchronization Manager and specifying certain of your own email addresses, you can cause automatic synchronization of your Inbox and Sent items folders and appointments in Outlook. Installation of Qasper Synchronization Manager can be found here. Using a single Outlook installation on one computer in your company and syncing everyone is discussed here. Qasper automatically sends all new Outlook contacts across to Qasper, placing them in a holding area until approved by you. Click here for more information. Please note: Qasper does not support Outlook Express. You must be running Outlook to use this feature of the Desktop Manager. For complete information on using Qasper Sync, click here. Qasper Synchronization starts when you start your computer, although you can also start it by selecting Start > Programs > Qasper ? Qasper Outlook sync. You can stop Qasper Desktop by restoring it from the system tray, and clicking [Close]. Optionally, you can specify that all data actions (add, change, delete) that affect you be replicated from Qasper's central database to a database on your desktop. In the event the central database is not available, you can switch to offline mode and continue processing. For more information, click here. Client-side Document Manager (optional) [Coming] Qasper provides a client-side template (.DOT) file for Word for Windows that intercepts Save commands and enables you to look up an owner, and save the document directly to the centralized database. Optionally, you can save the document to your local computer as well, or you can choose to only save it to your computer, bypassing the document manager functionality. The Document Manager also provides auto-insert functionality. Through a speed key (Alt/Q), a form displays that allows you to select one or more fields for insertion into your document. It also allows you to look up a contact. With this feature, you can quickly fetch and insert a contact's correct name, address, phone, etc., or the current date, or any multiple of fields. Client-side Report Designer - click here for more information Qasper provides a client-side report designer. Qasper's designer will be familiar to those who have experienc with Crystal Reports or other contemporary report designers. Reports can be designed and tested on your computer, then uploaded to the server for access at any time, from anywhere. To design and test, Qasper provides access to a special remote database. Access to the actual Qasper databases is not permitted until the report has been uploaded to the server computers.
